Is this a good floor pattern?

Faux marble ceramic tiles. The veins are arranged in an X or fishnet pattern as homage to my fishing roots. Is it too garish or odd?

IF you like it then there is no problem at all. Remember you will have more furniture taking up floor space then you will have viewable flooring. The pattern will be greatly reduced because of your furnishings. This will tone down the 'X' pattern quite a bit.

It's an unusual choice but it doesn't look at all bad. It emphasizes the "faux" of the faux marble, since you wouldn't be able to get enough matching slabs to get that effect over such a large area with natural stone. Though I have seen similar effects using natural stone over smaller areas or using larger slabs. The lobby at my workplace has walls decorated with bookmatched marble in a repeating pattern, for example.

It would not have been my choice, but you like it, so that is all that matters. What I really don't like is that, like cawaps said, it emphasizes the faux and the fact that the tile you chose has very few tile variations within the pattern.

Yes, it’s great that you love it. But. You’re going to be the lone ranger on this one. If resale is in the picture, put down some big rugs. It won’t appeal but to a very small percentage of people.
