I need to think on that corner, wow. Also are those stacked rocks in a shower?

The stacked rock is the front side of the shower and it has lots of gaps also. I had this professionally done and I’m really disappointed right now and don’t know what to do...

I have no advice (sorry!) but wanted to say I can relate to your disappointment. We have similar stacked stone for our fireplace and I’m doing it myself. It’s very difficult to align perfectly so there are no gaps. Seems nearly impossible. I’m incredibly detail oriented and want it to look as perfect as possible. Not a good choice for me!! Very frustrating. But I’m certainly not a pro so am looking forward to hearing from pros here about a fix and/or how this can be done with no/minimal gaps!

By the way, I forgot to mention that those gaps at the corners are made that way. Assuming your installer used corner pieces.. that’s how they come. I filled those gaps with a teeny bit of grout so not noticeable. But again, would love to hear from the pros!

Like I showed in the photoshop that I posted. In your photo are you demonstrating with the pieces that you are holding, what you'd replace the baseboard piece with? If so, then that is what I was saying.

That seems like the least amount of 'redo' for a slightly better effect.

The better route (but requires more re-work) might be to just continue the tile on the wall around the corner and then dead-end it in the inside corner that is out of picture. That would involve replacing the tiles that currently end into the curve because they'd have to be an inch longer.

Yes, I was just showing an example making sure I understood what you said, ironically your suggestion about tile wrapping around the wall was my original plan then I changed my mind. For me that’s where I would think the professional tiler would mention the problem doing that would create.... thank you for your feedback!!!

Donnatrus~ I was doing some trial runs with grouting on some pieces I had left over what did you use to squeeze it into the gaps? And yes we had the corner pieces. Can you post a picture of your rock? I’m wondering what it will look like with grout in just some places (in my mind I think it has to look better than the gaps)... thx!

Hi Mo, again, I’m not a pro, but it looks better to me with a few bits of grout. No one notices (no one is close up). And my family thought I was crazy for being bothered by the bigger gaps but I think my eye was just drawn to the black holes! I only filled the bigger gaps. I didn’t fill the small ones. I figure that’s a part of having natural stone. Mine is silver travertine.

I actually used a syringe! No needle of course but the plastic syringe. And my fingers and a clean rag. I mixed an off-white color with grey and got a good color that ‘disappeared’ into the gaps. I can’t see the grout unless I’m really close up. If you try this, try it in a hidden spot first. And be careful not to get it on the rough face of the stone as it’s hard to get off.

But my advice is to wait a while before doing anything. You are noticing everything right now. In 1-2 months, you may not. That’s happened to me with several things that bothered me right away. Good luck! Hoping pros comment here too..
