From the pics I’ve seem of HVX, it sure looks like it..... also not sure about the ink bleed, but if it’s on all these other hostas, why take the chance? Poor sis..... :-(

#3 looks fine. #1 is hard to tell. The other two, most definitely

Ask about her garden hygiene practices. Maybe she’s lazy and never trims anything. You could buy her a big jar of bleach wipes and show her how to sterilize her clippers.

#1 is First Mate and I'm pretty sure it is diseased. I will post more photos of that one in a separate post (the pics are on my phone, and I'm having trouble posting text from my phone).

#3 is Paul's Glory (we think), and she has 3 in different locations with this type of coloration. I advised her to keep an eye on them.

#4 is Guacamole and I agree that one is definitely virused.

Zkathy: She was pretty bummed out, and I was so sad to be the bearer of bad news. She normally lets everything die back and cleans up once it's completely brown. I did tell her about good practices with her tools.

It is really so so sad because she has a beautiful hosta garden. I had brought her some divisions and planned to take some from hers. I did still take some from well away from the diseased ones, but they may need to stay in pots for awhile.

More first mate

Makes me think..... I better start developing some of my own hygiene methods. A hose off may not be enough!
