Have you considered purchasing the sofa from your local furniture store in your new location? They most always deliver and that would give you another opinion other than your mover. They may even send their crew out to look at the space before you make a purchase.

Do you new neighbors have a similar set up? Maybe they have ideas.

Have you looked at Love Sac? My daughter bought one. It's nice because they come apart into smaller pieces and depending upon your configuration, they can be rearranged. The covers can also be washed as needed. Not cheap though.

Use the window. Lofts usually have large windows.

You might consider a two seat sofa. In a small space, a mid century modern wood frame with entirely separate sofa cushions could be your answer. Do sit in whatever you buy before buying so you know it's comfortable.

My three primary objections to sectionals are: If any one part gets stained, pretty much your entire room of seating has a stain on it.

It is not really comfortable to sit for an extended time in a seat without armrests.
