Kitchen lighting advice wanted

Hi, I have a 9 x25 foot kitchen remodel in the works. I'm looking for lighting ideas. These drawings are mostly accurate. There are almost no upper cabinets. I want good light but hate seeing the bulb surface glare.

1) For the 9 ' island - would you go with a 48 inch single mounted island light or put in individual pendants?

2) for the area above the sink and counters, I was thinking of those wafer LED lights but really don't like the glare. Would pendants work above sink? Or maybe a flush mounted light that is a few inches down from the ceiling.

3) For general room lighting I was thinking of ceiling mounted lights in front of left cabinet, in front of stove, 2 on wall by fridge and 2 where the sliding door goes.

FYI. We are thinking of some wall washers on the blank wall opposite the island.

Change. No room for sconces along side picture window.

I would appreciate some links.

1. Linear / island pendant or individual pendants... it's all up to your personal preference.

2. If you want pendants above the sink, then install recessed above the island. Installing pendants at both island and sink will compete with each other. If you really don't like recessed lighting, then install a bent arm sconce above the sink and windows. 3. What are ceiling mounted lights? Do you mean recessed lights? I'm assuming you don't mean flush mounts...

I think this is a lot of different light fixtures and they would all compete. You mentioned you don't like the glare from recessed lights. Do you have glare even when using a 2700k bulb? What about installing a dimmer switch for recessed lights?

Yes, everything will be on dimmers. I'm wondering about avoiding recessed lights and going with some of the thin LEDs.

I would use pot lights in the ceiling. They're easy to keep clean and they will give you light where you want it and need it.
