I’d leave that...it’s not ’floing’ flowers so it won’t take too much energy from the rooting process. How big is the entire cutting? If it’s a smaller cutting definitely leave it as it would lose a lot of sap and get dehydrated=more difficult to root, in my exp.

I would leave it for now but remove it at the start of the 2020 growing season. Those types of growth are in my opinion a waste of resources in the long run.

growing season start at spring. depend on where you live. if you live below equator, then growing season is now. lol.

I'm at a comparable latitude and my growing season typically starts by the first or second week of March.
