Pool in shaded yard

All searches seem to be about trees. Our house orientation casts early shadow in our yard - I so want a pool, but seems odd to put in shade. Thoughts? We are in Southern CA, but in yard without sun pool would still be cold - unless we add solar. Maybe too rich for our blood. Can anyone relate to a un-fixably shaded yard with pool? Many thanks!

I would not want a pool in the shade, I would just do without. All I can say is cut down trees.

We have a pool in an very private, shaded yard (50 foot Southern pine trees and a few tulip trees around the pool). I doesn't get as warm as an unshaded pool but we enjoy it. We're in central NC (which isn't as hot as So Cal) and use a gas heater in September/October, and April/May to boost the temps some. Depending on where you are located (LA vs SD) I suspect we wouldn't need the heater.
