Chinese drywall made people sick and bankrupted many contractors. Chinese stainless steel screws rust out within two or three years. Chinese baby formula contained plastic. The Chinese have a terrible air pollution problem and don’t seem to worry about the consumer. There are no guarantees Chinese furniture won’t outgas chemicals your granddaughter would breathe while she sleeps.

Buying direct from China is tricky. Sometimes you get a good product, sometimes it's acceptable, and sometimes you get a terrible cheap imitation. It will also take FOREVER to ship here! Most of the time it's about 4-6 weeks, but I would bet longer with a large heavy item.

It's a gamble.

Also... no returns or refunds. Ever.

Dang all those issues with chemicals etc must be making the Chinese healthier than ever being they are the most populated country in the world !!! So strange ..

If everything goes right, you're good. However if you have any issues or damages in transit, without a domestic distributor its likely you would have a very difficult time / impossible with any kind of return or damage repair. Language barriers alone will prove insurmountable.

I googled “ekar furniture reviews” and found absolutely nothing. That alone would concern me. The other posters are correct. If you order and it is not as described, “return shipping” will be so exhorbitant that you will have just bought an expensive piece of firewood.

The quality of Chinese products can indeed be very "iffy." I live in Australia, where young parents often have difficulty getting baby formula because it's scooped off the shelves by Chinese buyers and shipped back to China to be sold to the millions who dont trust their own products. Corruption, lax standards, poor quality control are rife. Unless the product in question is manufactured under strict quality control standards overseen by European or American partners/buyers, I wouldn't risk it.

There is also a good chance you’ll get something that looks nothing like this- and someone else said, there are no returns or refunds. I would put this out of your mind and keep looking.

Please do not order a Chinese product direct.
It's true that the odors from these chemicals are dangerous.
I made the mistake of ordering SHOES!!
They looked so cute (and reasonably priced)
Took weeks to arrive and were nothing like pictured .
Just keep looking..you'll find something that will suit you. Good luck!

This company is always reaching out to me and showing me photos of their packing methods trying to ensure me that items won’t be damaged.. haha

I just thought of this. Maybe you could find some inexpensive large gold ornate mirrors or picture frames(possibly flea markets) and have an upholsterer do the tufted work for you.

Trust me I’ve thought of that ! But i Love that carved wood upholstered headboard. I’ll keep on looking here in the states I guess. I won’t give up that easy. I bet I’ll find the perfect headboard and flip it over and see the “ made in China “ tag.. errr : (

Here's an idea..... Send me your money, and I promise to ignore you, send something else, not provide an address , never answer your calls, and not speak your language. That's the same result you'll get if you order from China, but I'll be happier.

Check out estatesale.net for sales in your area that may have older furniture.

fyi I order from China weekly and receive everything! i love dhgate and AliExpress especially. . i order from them because I find more unique things then here in the states not to mention half the price . The fact that most everything you buy here is made in China I figured I’m just cutting out the middle man . I bought a Caracole end table here and noticed it was made in China! Ugh ...just haven’t bought any furniture yet.

i love the first one ! I’ve seen the other too already ... You’re the best ! .. I was thinking of going To Furniture Land South and Spending the weekend there also . But I’m still tempted to order those unique headboards from China since I’ve had such good luck ordering from China . And it doesn’t matter if it takes 6 weeks, I’m in no hurry . House is being renovated and still a ways out .
