If it does not sucker there could be some interest, I have the white double flowered one and it has some leaf disease issues but they are getting to be less of an issue as the plant gets older. I get pear slugs on mine also, not a big deal either. The native plants around here generally look good but they sucker.

I don't know whether all hawthorns are prone to disease and pests but mine had pear slugs for the first few years and cedar rust. The worst is the suckering though, if I had known it was going to do that, I would have never planted one.
