Well, it helps to realize that “honey oak” is really orange. Your yellow is the wrong yellow, and your blue is the wrong blue. Good news is, it’s just paint. Below is an image to give you an idea of how this can work, and here’s a link to a design page for working with honey oak.

You can go with muted blue/gray or muted yellow colors, or with light version of yellow.

No yellows or paints that have a yellow cast to them, with your
cabinets. Try a pastel aqua, blue, or green, or even white. You have a
nice kitchen. Post a picture when you repaint. The blue in your
family room, should be a darker shade of blue. Maybe a navy.

Actually, celerygirl's beige and muted yellow look best with your cabinets. I would never do blue with honey oak unless you want the orange to pop.

For LR's oak, try chalk paint the neutral color of fireplace's stone.

If you were drawn in a way to those colors, what if we try? Do you like a bohemian mix of colors and patterns - people do that!... grey is for black appliances and sofas....

Chalk paint on each side unit - the color of stone fp. Whatever paint is in the future I think that's good. For now, this fun thing?

There was a Benjamin Moore color of the year a few years back called "Lemon Sorbet". It's a nice soft, gentle, pale yellow. Or if you wanted something leaning more cream there are a few soft yellow-ivories in their Historical Colors deck.

Actually the Historical Color deck might have a good blue for your fireplace too, either Hale Navy or Van Deusen Blue.

If you were attracted to yellow and blue go with it, but the versions you picked were too high chroma. You need more complex, muted tones, especially if you want the honey cabinets to appear more neutral.

Beige, steel blue and grey are perfect match. Depends only on your desired atmosphere:

Your kitchen with beige brings elegance while still being warm. Grey is perfect match to neutralize a lot of honey oak and to stress the wood, however it can be little cold. Steel blue is perfect match to honey however it can be "overpainted" by colors. I'd choose either beige/creme or light warm grey - that would be elegant, warm, and not overpainted.

For family room, yes. Ivory, Orange, Gold, Gray, Denim Blue, Brick Red.

Love the sage green or palest yellows that were posted earlier.

That sage is pretty and you could do just a darker shade for the FP if you wanted

I agree with the idea of the very pale yellows that have a bit of gold like the Dry Pasta in Beth's post. I also think the sage green could be a pretty complement to your counters.
