I use to graft just about all my roses when I lived in Fl. When I retired and moved to N.E. GA., I got lazy and just ordered my roses. I think I might fire things back up next spring and graft a few roses.

BenT, We use them to restock our own campus gardens, and we have 2 or 3 rose bush sales per year, the proceeds of which fund a service-learning trip that I take students on, every spring. We go to New York, where we plant, prune, weed, and otherwise beautify gardens all over Harlem, as part of the New York Heritage Rose District, and in partnership with the Heritage Rose Foundation. We generally make enough money on the rose sales to take half a dozen or so students for that long weekend. Interestingly, because Harlem is colder and has heavier soils, we use mostly own-root roses there, rather than grafted.

Dr. Manners, thank you SO much for sharing these videos! They are a real gift. I’m tempted to call out sick and stay home for a few days just to try these techniques out—lol!
