Definitely a pendant should be over a kitchen table. This is more of a decorative feature. Do you have any other lighting throughout?

No, I don’t my first choice would be pendant as well. Currently I have track lighting which I want to replace and get a beautiful fixture

you cant hang a pendant off the track.............its that simple. have both directional and pretty. Track is one of the most functional things out there.

It depends on the space , the table , your style so many things we need pictures if you want help .

Pendant is something I prefer. But it's subjective to your style and your house. Will they complement the space? That is the question you must be asking. But do share photos. We can help accordingly. :)

Assuming that the existing track is in the correct position (over the table) and you don't want to mess with the ceiling electrical, you can attach a pendant to a track. For example, this Progress adapter (from which a pendant can be hung) attached to a Progress track. This simple WAC pendant attaches to a WAC track with a track adapter (option 2).
