Bob, I heard about Alfalfa. I heard it has many good uses for potted plants. Do yous see a huge difference with or without it? Thinking about using some myself.

As you can see I mix it in my 500 gl water tank, add a couple cups of lime, use it to water my container trees with. Answer is no, because it is used with my regular fertilizer watering. My store bought jar of micro’s,yes , it show improvement in a couple of days.

Interesting. I've never used alfalfa. Will look into it. Ive been using only foliage pro and osmocote plus the last few years.

Dave, what you are using is excellent but if you grow a bunch of trees might get too costly.

Citrus trees are happy with less, we amateurs are usely over feeding.

I too use just Foliage Pro and Osmocote on many of my trees and they are just fine. But with more and more plants being added, it is getting more costly to buy the large gallon of Foliage Pro.

I stopped using foliage pro for the same reason than Mike. I now use miracle gro, holly tone, osmocote and kelp fertilizeR. I still have some foliage pro left so I plan to finish it somehow. I also bought some fish fertilizer that I will use maybe this spring. As you can see, I love experimenting new stuffs.

1+ on the Peters 25-5-15 HP, nothing better for container citrus. I also mix in osmocote plus.

Why is everyone mixing in Osmocote Plus with their fertilizers?

That is a new one> It seems I can't edit my comments then post. It gets stuck and does not so I have to had another post. This site is getting just a bit more difficult to enjoy using.

Does anyone here worry about fertilizers with no calcium? It seems that the only one I use these days has it. I use Foliage Pro and Pete's Cal/mag which seems to correct a lot of issues with my trees and plants. Am I wrong in assuming Ca is added because most plants use it?

It seems like many here are not using fertilizer with Ca and their trees are still performing well. It makes me scratch my head)

I am using this combo as necessary because it gives the tree constant fertilizer, no t just on and of. When watering normally water flushes fertilizer out of the roots reach.

Osmocote plus is in the potting mix........not a direct liquid

I don't worry about calcium, only needed as a trace element, as its in NYC drinking water, and in many municipal water supplies
