I see a basket in the bottom part, even though you didn't ask about that...Some greenery would be nice but what about a large piece of colorful pottery?

That is pretty tall niche...looking at the second picture. Have you thought of possible layering a mirror and something decorative in front of it or my next thought was a colorful piece of art.

So that niche was for a phone as you can still see the phone connection at the base.

If you had electrical, I'd recommend a narrow buffet light and chair.

Does the tile floor need to be stripped and resealed?

Since the little niche is asymmetrical within the larger niche, I think Beth's idea would look really nice there while hiding that little niche. A basket underneath with a nice quality fake plant would bring some life to that corner.

Always1stepbehind- I didn’t think about a basket underneath. I loves baskets and it’s a great idea! I will think about layering the niche with a mirror and colorful pottery.

Wouldn't it be cool if you could run electric there and make it your charging station for today's devices where the old phone would have gone? Since there is no electric, but a connection, you might buy a vintage phone or sculpture as below of the period and put it there. Add a chair for sitting to "chat" and fill the drawer with notepads and pencils/pens just like it still functioned as a phone location.
