I would also put your art on the opposite wall. You look like you have more room for a console on the wall that you have the art on now.

That art is too large to be admired in such a narrow space even if you backed into the wall to view it. Try a skinny, floating foyer shelf and mirror.

Are the baskets for shoes? I think you could do a very narrow console table or even something like this if you need the shoe storage:

how far is your coat closet from the door?

Have you considered some dramatic wallpaper that defines the entry. nothing else needed if you pick something dramatic.

Thank you all for your comments and pictures! Njmomma, thank you for pointing out that the current "art wall" would fit a console better! I don't notice that! Lisette- yes, the basket holds shoes. I have a mudroom too that the kids are supposed to put their shoes in, but I got tired of fighting it and resigned myself to a shoe basket by the front door.
