with a better pic of the tree... you might get an ID in the conifer or tree forum .. or name that plant ...

might be very dramatic.. in a few years.. if you left it there???

Well, I have charged up my old phone after 8 attempts at posting cropped photos. To me it looks better than without the S&S. This is the side shaded by one of the hosta.

The side with the smaller S&S which has a fuller skirt.

New home with larger S&S just peeking in the background.

That's ultimately what matters - what is pleasing to your eye! :) I think the tree is a weeping variety of Picea pungens (Blue Spruce)

I have lots of plants that could be further apart so I know where you're coming from..but I do agree with ademink that the color combination was pretty..

It was very nice looking photo but if I had a wider shot you would see how the tree was shaded. It would have been a problem to simply move them out further. The beauty of the (what I'm almost certain is a Cedrus Deodara) is the weeping form. It doesn't have the branch structure or needles of a blue Spruce. Where the heck is my expert, "tj, where are you?"

A long time ago, but I'm pretty sure it is Cedrus Deodara. I remember when I bought it years ago seeing pictures of a mature tree with a beautiful nice skirt and gorgeous weeping branches. Hostaphiles probably wouldn't know, but Ken or tj would. I'm going to post it on the conifer forum and have them give it their expert opinion.

David Olszyk, President, American Conifer Society was gracious enough to identify it as picea engelmannii 'bush's lace'. I was wrong, but happy to have it.

Well, I was just caught up in the beautiful leaves of your S&S. I think it looks so much prettier in shade like that... around here I see them planted in lots of sun, and they "tolerate" it and grow very large... but yours has prettier leaves and a prettier color.
