I was thinking more arts and crafts but 1st dibs said 1910 to 1919 and the house they came out of seemed to be that era -- probably the later part of that span and my house was built in 1920.

Our old house which was built in 1913 had light fixtures that would have matched the bottom portion of those. People tend to forget that an era is not a cut and dried thing and can have little to do with a calendar. Everything has to start some where then spread before it is popular enough to be classified as an era. Although I would classify those as a transition piece rather than either era.

The sconces in the basement (which were in the living room when the house was built) go well with those. They were changed out in the 40s after the war to something more "colonial".

Great score for $30, Martha! Re the debate on style, and descriptions/examples I found here, I'd call it Art Nouveau. It's the bellflowers and scrolls/curves. :O)

Yes, party music -- according to that I'd call it Art Nouveau as well. I think the two -- arts and crafts and art nouveau are a bit muddled. And they definitely are in my mind.

Very nice decorative pieces and I do not think those have been used in a fireplace. Those are as clean as new and have not seen the soot and heat of fire.

Brass will polish very nicely.....I polished up a pair of brass cannon ball and irons many years ago.

Don't polish and remove the patina, it's lovely and adds to the value. Do you have a fireplace or were they just too good to pass up even without one?.... never mind, noticed fireplace in background.

The inverted tapering pillar and plinth are adamesque forms. The flat strapwork style of low relief ornament suits it to an arts & crafts-leaning Colonial revival interior.

Art nouveau demands all-encompassing sinuous curves.

Or at least 2 dimensional curves.
