Do not use clay pots - they absorb water with fertilizer and eventually start burning plant tissue.

Trailers perform the best in SHALLOW pots. They branch and spread. You move from a smaller to bigger pot as it grows - filling the pot with roots. The perfect pot in the end will be a 5 inches bulb pan - so you do not want to pot it in anything deeper on the way.

The container on the right- is recognizable - fruit cup - for scale. The black condiment cup is 5oz, not 3 oz.

Comment on the current conditions - 1. seems that soil is too heavy on perlite - it can dry too easily - which is to detriment. The original Violet Barn soil is 50% vermiculite - and it is way too heavy for everybody but Violet Barn conditions. But yours looks like 50% perlite. 2. For whatever reason they do not grow well if the soil is half pot. They prefer to have the soil on the rim level.

Otherwise - the plant is perky enough for you to continue shaping a perfect trailer out of it!

Ok, great :) I found a cute little green cup about the size of the top cup in the picture. It's definitely shallower than the clay pot. I'll poke some holes in it and pot it in some new soil. I was so afraid of killing the poor thing that I never changed out the soil it was in. I'll find some good soil online
