i don’t know what is causing this. Mine has been doing something similar. I have been thinking it is some kind of infection, but it’s not in the roots, just a segment of the leaf. Looks like you have quite a few leaves affected. Here’s what mine looks like.

Barb, sorry to hear you are having the same problem. It's really weird, I thought it was from the Bayer that I sprayed them with.

I separated the erythraeae into three pots, used clean pots and fresh soil. I also checked the fisheri, I removed some of the soil on top and replaced it with fresh soil. There is new growth finally and I didn't want to disturb it too much.

I guess I'll watch the bad pieces and see what they do, if they get really bad, I'll chop them off.

Also, it's a pain in the neck to try and attach photos from my cell phone.

I have had this plant for years, this started about a year ago, but I don’t think it happened after I sprayed. I just now cut off those two bad leaves, doesn’t seem to have spread into the stem, but makes the plant look ragged. Good luck with yours. It takes a long time to grow one that size.

I see it Barb, looks like mine. If I have to chop my plant up I will. My roots looked fine, I wish I knew what it was.

I just noticed it on my fernwood from Ikea, I just rinsed it off and put it back outside, ugh.

It is only on the plants I have mentioned, no trifasciata varieties. No rot at the bases of the plants. I checked them today, no more sap, just feel shrunken but not mushy.

I did know it was about trifasciata but any bug or disease can jump species and spread and only mention it for advise only and very glad it not present here.

I really like the green on your plant, and its form. I want to know what those spots are and why they are affecting your plant this way!! Please follow up if you can with more information as you go along.

How is your erythraeae doing? I haven’t seen anymore problems with mine lately. I have another one I am trying to save. It belonged to a friend and was invaded by mealies. I have isolated it and sprayed and put some systemic in the soil.

Stush, dude ! Any particular mouth wash ? Will Listerine do the trick ? Is it the alcohol, if so, perhaps a cheap whisky (I have a horrible canadian one, it would benefit from a few extra years in the barrel but the canadians seem to lack patience) will do the trick ?

Thanks for the info about the new Trifasciata disease. Everytime I order a plant from Asia via Ebay I always put it in quarantine for several months until it’s allowed to be anywhere near my other Sans.

Edinburgha, Not sure of the Canadian Whisky unless you take a sip before starting on the plants! What I use is the cheap Dollar Store mouthwash (mint flavor). It has the same ingredients as the old Listerine. The active ingredient in original Listerine is thymol. New Listerine is alcohol free and alcohol is needed to kill germs and disinfect cuts and injures on leaves. I used to use it full strength but now dilute it with about 25% water. I also add a teaspoon of Baking Soda which helps with any fungus. I use it in a spray bottle. Don't over use it. A little is good but a lot is harmful.

Barb, sorry I missed this. The parts that were weeping are dried out. The rest of the plant is fine. The fischeri has a lot of new growth, the soil is being pushed out of the pot.

Is it possible this could be caused by oedema?

They had been sprayed with Bayer but I also sprayed them off with water before I brought them in. It was windy and the temperature dropping. I'm not sure how long the water sat on the leaves after I brought them in.

Mine is the same, dried up, not spreading. I think you may be right, odema. I am hoping that is all it is. My plant did this in the summer outside with periods of heavy rain. I will try to keep it drier next summer.
