Tomato Pests & Diseases Growing Tomatoes

Help me find this Tomatoville tomato diseases reference...

I'm one of the many many who are trying to join Tomatoville, but waiting for months (just to be activated) is so counter intuitive that I thought I'd ask here for some help finding a certain pdf file listed in one of their message threads.

Thanks rdback, that's a great article you linked to. And it took about 30 seconds to find the other Dr. Gary Vallad pdf which is also really good, just as others had said. Now I have two detailed Tomato disease papers with plenty of photos. I still have tomato plants growing so it'll be useful to have this information handy if I need it.

I couldn't pull up the page from the link, but I Googled the info and came up with the following which should lead you to the correct page.

I tried googling it also but there were too many choices and I want the exact one mentioned, on Tomatoville, mainly because several people were so enthusiastic about it.

There are two links in the message from Ginger2778 The first link gives a 404 error, file not found. The second link is probably the same pdf file where it was saved into the Tomatoville archives. Did you try the second link also?

Every time I try this link it takes me to the page that says I don't have permission, and it doesn't look like I'm going to get permission (ie activated) any time soon.

I couldn't find the page either on the U FL extension pages. I'm not a TV member so can't pull it up there either. Maybe a TV member will see this thread and be able to copy the link to this thread if the link still works. I've seen Tormato posting here recently and a few others.

Craig Lehoullier's book Epic Tomatoes has a very good chapter on Tomato diseases with descriptions, pictures, and treatments that I use as a reference. I've rarely had anything except Septoria Leaf Spot in my garden.

I AM a TV member and the link doesn't work any more which is why I gave the only info that I could find. Sorry that there were too many choices and that I wasted my time trying to help :(.

I should have said there were too many choices and none of them pointed to what I was looking for...which was the specific pdf file that Ginger2778 said was one of the best foliar disease pdfs she'd seen. And many others in that thread agreed with her.

I've gone to the U of Florida EDIS site several times already and searched...here are some of the search term results:

foliar diseases ....100 documents (10 pages with 10 documents on each page)

tomato foliar diseases...100 documents

Tomato-diseases (as in the original link)...520 documents

Do you want to know what a waste of time would be...me trying to read each of those 720 documents in a useless attempt to find a pdf file mentioned in that 2014 thread that has probably been moved (or renamed) off that web site years ago.

Which is why the obvious solution it to find this pdf file in the Tomatoville archives, which of course I won't have access to for months.

We're all here to help each other, so none of that (the helping) is a waste of time.

John, the author's name is Dr. Gary Vallad and the title is 'Identifying and Controlling Tomato, Eggplant & Pepper Diseases'. It's a PDF file and appears to be a slide-type presentation showing talking points and photos.

I think there is a better article, written by Vallad and others, with more detailed info and a lot of the same photos. It can be found in PDF format here:
