This was taken at sunset, so the colors are brighter in reality. Driving to work is stunning for the entire month of October here in NH. I have some flowers still blooming, but they don’t hold a candle to the foliage.

NHBabs - now that is fall colour! Tree foliage colour is a weak point in our garden as there isn’t a lot of it and what there is of it tends to be a bit wimpy :-(

i only have one spot of fall colour left in my yard and snow is in the forecast for this weekend. This is a cranberry shrub.

Rouge, the snowfall warnings are for southern Manitoba. For us, it’s rain mixed with snow for the weekend. And yes, there’s still leaves on some trees. It’s been a strange fall.

Maybe that was a post from last year but I had the impression you and some others were disappointed in BoBo in general. Did it have a growth spurt and seem better established this year? Well, I'm glad it redeemed its reputation. I am looking for a smaller hydrangea wihere the flowers are 'upright' or cone shaped. If mine looked like yours it would be nice complement/contrast to Little Quick Fire. in the same bed.

The fall colors and longevity of LQF are remarkable this fall.

Sigh, beautiful photos all. Here, we did not have a drop of rain all September and so far in October. Everything is brown and dying despite attempts to keep them well and deeply watered. I have even been carrying buckets of water to the trees in our hell strip to make sure they get their required 25 gallons each week. I am completely devastated.

The only thing worse than a droughty fall is a drought during the spring. Sorry to hear you're still so dry and I'm sure the heat didn't help.

We got our break about two weeks ago and although some plants shut down early I hope the others are going to hang in for a decent fall.

I have a hanging pot of bougainvillea that is putting out a bunch of fall color, but I do think it looks entirely out of place for the season!

Mazerolm, am noticing how very similar our tastes are with the use of thuja, conifers, berberis, sedums, echinacea ('Prairie Splendor'?) and do I spy a 'Morden Yew' in there, if so, that's a great one that's for sure! I liberally use berberis 'Concorde', holds it foliage longer than most anything and sets itself on fire come November! Your place looks expansive and very well done! Do you also have a fight on your hands with deer, they sure were enjoying my yard this morning!

Thanks FrozeBudd! I do love conifers! We do not have deers, I’ve only seen them once in the 6 years we’ve been here.

Prairie Splendor: I tried to grow it from seeds and failed so I bought Bright Star instead because it was available locally. Concorde: I love it as well and would plant again!

Morden yew: I googled it and I think the one you saw is a Picea Engelmann ‘Jasper’. It looks green in the picture but is actually blue.

The temps have really dropped here So I thought I’d get some pics before everything blackens...

Maz thank you. The sumac is still in a pot... Undecided on where to put it as it can get quite large. I have another one I need to dig out and move from my neglected hillside. Nervous on placement lol.

The garden is winding down but I think it still looks pretty, especially the grasses. So glad I planted them last year. And the asters are still going strong. I'm sad to see all this go but I was out earlier planting a bunch of lily bulbs in the back yard. Can't wait to see them next summer!

Marie unfortunately I don’t remember. A garden friend and I mail ordered these and with bunch of perennials years ago and split them. The tags are long gone. I do know that it is a ‘mammoth’ mum...just can’t remember the name sorry.

GardenHo, Your dahlia looks very similar to one that I have called Ferncliff Illusion, and it grows about 7' tall before it blooms. I really should remember to pinch it back earlier in the year to try and keep it shorter and more bushy.

I love looking at all these pictures! Fall gardens are my favorite! Our nice days are numbered now...which makes me sad but I can always plan for next year.

This is my neighbors Burning Bush Tree. Yes tree. Apparently they are able to grow in this manner according to the aborist who saw when trimming my maple. He said it is the biggest one he’s every seem. In Wisconsin they are no longer allowed to be sold as trees, only bushes. Something about it being an invasive species???? Who cares ? It magnificent!

Enjoyed this beauty one last time today before our first hard freeze(23F) comes tonight. This is chrysanthemum pacificum, the last plant to flower in my garden. Good bye gardening season!

I have no beautiful trees or bushes blooming now but I will cheat this one through by mentioning that the Mondo Grass is perennial. This was my first time buying one and I paired it with petunias and silver Beacon. Then later I added some pansies. They are all thriving very well after planting 5 weeks ago.
