My cactus fell and is hollow?

Hi, I’m hoping someone can help me with what happened to my cactus. I got it as a gift about a month ago. It looked fine this morning but tonight I came in and it just fell apart. The inside looks kind of hollow and pinkish and I don’t know if that’s normal or not. Thank you for any feedback and I’ll attach some photos!!

Hollow is no good anytime. OTOH, all of us who have grown these plants for a while have had something similar, if indeed not the same thing, happen to us. Photos will help, but if it's hollow, it's likely a goner.
