A glass grinder may be able to get it out if it isn't too deep, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Were I that glass grinder, it's not a risk I would take. I'd invest several hours only to have a customer that still wasn't satisfied and telling everyone on the interwebby so.

If this is over one of the hobs, there isn't much you can do beyond replacing the glass. If it is not over a hob, then some of the car windshield repair stuff may work, but it can't stand heat.

Call the manufacture's Tech Support guys and ask for options. But take a better picture. I can't see anything and neither will they.

A chip over a hob means a glass replacement. Tempered glass that has been chipped or scratched is what “spontaneously” shatters. It’s a weak point, and temperature changes make it even weaker. But that shattering is mostly people just not seeing the scratch or chip that caused the shattering. You can at least see this.

Any chance you paid for it with an American Express card? I think they cover lost or damaged items if purchased within a certain time frame.

I kind of figured it will likely shatter if I use it. Unfortunately I paid for it with a visa. My husband is handy, and it looks like replacement glass is $250.00 so we will probably go that route.

I think Visa, depending on the bank, will also extend warranties.

I don’t think a warranty will cover this. I’m talking to the company tomorrow and will see what they say.

I have the same problem but when I called Bosch, the replacement glass was something like $500 (It’s been a year, so can’t remember exactly). Can I ask what brand of induction you have?

Also, do any pros know if I have to go with Bosch branded glass? DH can install.

Say it arrived damaged. I wouldn't fool around replacing the glass.

I replaced the glass on my Bosch 800 after an accident. Got the part from Bosch. The first one arrived in pieces so they sent another. Fairly easy to replace. You do need a tube of silicone heatsink compound which is placed at the center of each hob. I bought some through Amazon as the Bosch stuff must have been a lifetime supply; cost was very high. It is not tempered glass as it doesn't break into little pieces. It must be heat strengthened.
