bkay, Thanks for posting about this. It reminds me of what I used to do when I couldn't remember which book a certain 'tip' was in or the specific reference I needed right then but couldn't find it. If I found a good tip or way of doing a block that I made often, I printed it out and put it in a plastic sleeve and into a Tips and Techniques 3-ring binder. Internet, magazine, wherever...... HSTs ..... QSTs ...... Square in a Square ..... Flying Geese ...... you name it. If I liked a certain block/pattern/technique and found a way that worked for me to make it exact, it got printed out and kept. And that binder stayed close to my machine....just had to reach for it. I learned as I went along.....where does the line on the ruler go when rotary cutting? On the fabric? Just off the fabric? Bonnie Hunter says, barely on the fabric....another tip for me. Sometimes I just write it down on an index card, but it's there, and I don't have to remember a bunch of numbers and other things.

bkay, The way I measure for the triangle on a square in a square is to measure the side of the square and deduct 1/4", I just practiced with a 3 1/2" square, folded a 3" square corner to corner and that worked. However, on the blocks that I want to make sure there's a point, I'd add another 1/4".....so deduct 1/4" from the original square, which would be 3 1/4" and cut corner to corner for 2 side triangles.
