We moved into this house a year ago and love our downstairs layout. I am thinking about if there are some small kitchen tweaks we can make to modernize it a bit more. I like modern and MCM with rustic touches.

The color of the tile floor is not my favorite but spans the kitchen-family room-dining room. Not in the budget to update at this time.

I really like modern wooden cabinets. Though oak isn’t my first choice for wood,
I have grown to like these quite a bit. Very good quality. Would not consider painting.

This leaves backsplash and countertop. I am debating updating our backsplash for something off white to lighten up space. Suggestions? I feel like something basic may work best but I don’t think subway is quite right here...

The granite isn’t my favorite either but I’m not sure I dislike it enough to spend over 5k replacing. Thoughts?
