We had bellies, several years ago. Several causes; several remedies. Definitely get inspections: foundation, structural engineer, plumbing, etc. You will get different opinions. If your inspection comes from a service provider (plumber, foundation company), their recommendation will be their professional services. Try to get a non-partial engineer or inspector, so that they aren’t biased by trying to sell the solution. What area of the country are you in?

Thank you all so much for your quick responses! After seeing some of your responses, we are now trying to get a structural engineer out here for an inspection. We also have a plumber that deals with foundations coming out tomorrow.

We are not in an area with sink holes, but at the moment it feels like half of our house is in one! We live near Austin, Texas where the ground here is clay with tons of rocks. Our neighborhood is known for being difficult to dig into without digging up big rocks. I'm hopeful the insurance company will cover this! They are not saying much, just waiting for a detailed estimate to let me know what if anything will be covered.

One plumber said it could have been caused by a design flaw, hence the design tag. Sorry.

I'm not sure either. The adjuster is out of state. She said she just cuts the check, but we are the ones who have to get the estimates. They did send out a water mitigation company to check for moisture in the bathroom & kitchen only. We did initially report this as pipes backing up, which was the current problem at the time. It wasn't until plumber came out and also saw the cracks, that he put the two together.
