I need help with styling

This kitchen and dining area looks boring and cold I need some styling advice! I like to get a new dining table and a side board not sure if that picture will work! Also I’m not loving the lights over island !

It's hard to tell what style you love, so difficult to make any specific design suggestions. A few to start with - if you don't need the storage, I wouldn't add a sideboard to the dining room. I'd start with a large rug (in colors that coordinate with your art) to define the space; also center your artwork on the table, not the wall space.

I love the kitchen, and the island lighting. I think the dining table is a little small.

A rug would be nice under your table. Since your table is small, I think I would put two chairs around it and put one chair under the art work and the other chair in the corner on the left side of the window. I think a buffet would be too much for your dining room, but I can see a console table under your art if you want....then the chairs could stay around your table...with a pretty rug. Oh by the way, I love the lights over your island. Wish I had done that with mine.

    I love your kitchen!

Are those chairs very comfy? If not, then buy new chairs. I searched for the most comfy upholstered chair and finally found it at PB. It is on sale now- the in-stock items 50% off and worth considering. Check with your store for stock. The concave back of the Hayes chair repeats the circular shape of the round chandelier and pendants and is so comfortable!

How about a new look, rather than a new table?

I'd use this 3D petal tablecloth -it will echo the round lighting details (chandelier and pendant lights), as well as the abstract silvery artwork and counter stools. The $29 tablecloth shown below is really long. You could cut it to the size for your table or your could order fabric by the yard. Two yards of this fabric is all you need - approx $22 for 2 yards (6 Feet). Measure the length of your table and allow 6 inches on both sides for overhang. Easy DIY : Roll the cut edges and hem with a needle and thread. Easy DIY in an hour.

Link for fabric by the yard. https://www.etsy.com/listing/150753380/taffeta-round-petal-silver-fabric-54?gpla=1&gao=1&&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=shopping_us_low-low_d-supplies-fabric-yardage&utm_custom1=b443fb6c-5208-4355-a3a2-705633dbdcbd&utm_content=go_6721326417_78244369414_388378861091_aud-360480980339:pla-332807148842_t__150753380&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI_7z489W15QIVCr3ACh2tIAufEAQYBiABEgKJJPD_BwE

I think color is needed...if new chairs are in consideration ...softer more comfy colorful and inviting would be good...also a round table would soften up all the straight lines..maybe in a pale goldenish wood finish(again adding warmth)...lastly an accent wall of color(perhaps the wall behind the painting) ...start with a rug you LOVE...and use that as your color guide....the rest will go with any color choice and be more striking as a contrast to the color choices you make..at this point you could consider the console table if you feel a little more is needed...

Your space is begging for color. No wonder it looks cold an uninviting - it's all gray and white and there are no personal things. It looks like no one lives there. I love red and cobalt blue for accents (tho maybe not together). Or orange. Or any actual color you like. A round table would look better in the space, with a soft rug under. If you don't like the lights above the island, try some art glass globes in a bright color.

Thank you for all the awesome advice ! Definitely like the idea of these lights for over the island but not sure what color I should go with ! All my other lights are pewter

All of your lights don't have to match exactly. You could find darker lights with a pewter rod. I would use a darker tone in at least one other of the light fixtures in the home, even if it is not hardwired (example, a table lamp).

I love those lights thank you I will start looking ! I also decided on a round all wood table and a side board! Lighter than my floor ! Does the side board have to match the table ?

Sideboard doesn't have to match table but they should feel good together.

My island chairs are grey should the lights be a darker grey

That would be fine......or you can pull in the more bronzy floor color.

Petra, do you recall the name if your current island lights? I love them

I like your lights and chairs just fine. Those are not the problem. You need to bring in warmer accessories and pieces. A rug with some warm tones combined with the floor finish color would add a lot to the room. Something like this echoes ivory chairs, the gray brown floors, and your painting. The rust adds warmth which you can pick up in accessories like an oversized wood tray or cutting board to leave out on the counter with an earthen bowl of fruit.

Are those fake plants? If so, begone. Replace with a wooden indoor planter and live plants in your window alcove:

Absolutely yes to a round table--48"--with leaves if you can find one. I would suggest either finding a thrift shop round wooden table that will work with your floors--restain it. Or get a new modern one in wood. But to try to keep a wood table in the same family as your flooring.

Or a distressed ivory table--if you can DIY, you could go for something like this:

Or wood and a distressed base:

The lights over the island are from Home Depot

The lights are fine for now. To warm up the space without hiring an electrician, get a rug, real plants, a round table with a warm finish, then see about the lights.

I think everything look good, adding some color and wood elements will make it great. Look for wood table with white sideboard and chairs with some color. Artwork is not the best, I would select something more colorful.

Move your plants to the window.

Ok , I moved furniture out , replacing everything! I need ideas for server , table and chairs , carpet and art for wall please !

For size, if you want round a 48" table would be pushing it.....and no room for buffet. A better size would actually be a 36" table.

I think I am going with a smaller rectangular table now

Every inch will matter....I suggest you draw a floor plan. Thanks.

Your space already looks “styled”. What it needs is the color of your personality to add life. It doesn’t yet look like anyone lives there. I don’t mean that as a criticism, just that you shouldn’t be afraid to add your personal touches.

You don't need to throw the baby out with the bathwater. How about finding a brighter piece of art to inspire the space, then choosing a rug to coordinate?

I have some renderings for you, but Houzz doesn't seem to want to upload so I'll try later.
