Need some advice. We just remodeled our kitchen. We made a large island, 4’x14.5’. We found a quartzite that we loved, and had it shipped into our local fabricator. We live in a very small town with really only one option of fabricators within hundreds of miles. We wanted waterfall edges and 3” profile. This requires 3 full slabs, not counting 2 more to complete the rest of the kitchen. Well the first go round didn’t go to plan, and they ended up miscutting the waterfall edges because they forgot to take into account the 3” profile instead of standard. So long story short, instead of ordering just one slab because then the veining wouldn’t match up because of the different lot number, we went on a hunt to find 3 more slabs. This is a pretty rare color to find, and hard to find 3 consecutive lot numbers. But we did, and two of them were even book matched. Yay right? So thinking after the first mistake, they would pay EXTRA attention to make sure measurements and cuts are correct. Wrong! Our seam lines don’t match up! They are misaligned by about an inch. It’s not as if they are two different lot numbers not near eachother but they are bookmatched! You can even see that the identical line is there, they are just off. I am so frustrated as this wasn’t an inexpensive project. And I’m not saying we should be okay with less than perfect had we spent less, but still, it’s more time and money out of our pocket beyond what we already spent. It just seems to me that seams lining up is “countertop 101” Please let me know what you think. Wondering if I’m irrationally angry
