    First, thanks for your question. The ceiling is a faux spaced sheeting. Spaced sheeting was typical used on roofs with wood shakes. The spaces allowed air to dry the shakes. You can see this in older barns and out buildings. This look is a more modern and cleaner version of that building technique.
