It does look dark! And it’s a very unusual trim on the doors...

Another inexpensive option is to remove the doors from the uppers - this can definitely lead to more visual clutter - so a good clean out and organization of the cabinets and countertops can really help with that (and/or moving less used items to a pantry/basement/closet/garage)

Beyond that, you could also paint the wooden soffit above the cabinets to lighten up the top of the kitchen. Color wise I would stay very light - not sure if the green is what you’ve started? I think adding color just adds to the choppiness of the space...

Remove those odd trim pieces on the cabinets strip sand fill holes snad again then paint with a good cabinet paint those cabinets are sucking the life out of that kitchen That soffit should be the same color as the walls and the cabinets a nice creamy white No open shelves since it appears your need for storage is huge maybe try to get a simple pantry cabinet you can put somewhere to hold all the stuff on the counters.The counters don’t look that bad so leave them for now. Change all the light bulbs to LEDs in 40000K

Looks like you're also short of storage. I would close up the pass through and put more storage on that wall. Painting the dark bulkhead to match the new wall color will help. Can you remove the heavy board above the sink to allow for more light and a lighter feeling? Add LED lights under the upper cabinets and inside the glass front cabs. Don't use those as catch-all storage but for large decor, preferably white pottery or something light and bright. Or remove the door from the lower one and put your toaster oven there so you have more counter space below. Remove the tripping hazard rug and replace with a runner from www.ruggable.com. They are washable and colorful.

I started painting it white, it’s some ugly yellow. And I’ll see about removing that trim piece and filling in the holes but what do I need to do about the waviness of the whole cabinets bc it’s on the actual cabinets too if you look closely I might have a good pic of it
