I don't think you can consider bluish gray anything with a house that has a brown roof and brown brick. Your inspirations picture has no bearing on your current home.

Well, the timber details would have typically been a Tudor detail, but you have so many other details from other styles it's just a mutt.

I might consider trying to simplify some of the details before painting. I would certainly get rid of the Victorian oval window doors at the entrance.

do all the wood trim in white and use the Romabio on the brick. (look it up. it's a natural product)

1980’s was the beginning of the NeoEcclectic era. That house took it and ran with it right into Medieval Times and a Henry VIII theme land. The result is not unpleasing, but needs to stay FIRMLY grounded into earth tones. No grays or blues or cold anything tones. Add more dark and mysterious landscaping, focusing on the contrast of deep greens, silver foliage, and the ever elusive black or purple foliage plants.

I've seen eyebrow dormers (set further up the roof) on older homes but these eyebrows directly over the windows seem to be a 1990's and more recent trick. To me, they are a modern-day gimmick gone wrong. I'm wondering if painting the eyebrow walls the same color as the window frames would help hide their appearance, at least for those on the second floor. The larger one on the right may have to remain the same color as the other walls..

I like BeverlyFLADeziner’s color scheme selections. Less contrast will give the house a more quiet facade, downplaying the eyebrow windows.
The 80’s doors were even bad back when they suddenly appeared here, there and everywhere. A house of this size needs a more beefy door.

I would minimize the color contrasts to deemphasize the design challenges. Perhaps a nice two tone beige.

That takes away all the tudor and helps the rest of the design elements work better.

Definitely keep the brick as is

Definitely needs new doors. .Natural wood if at all possible. Much prefer one large door with two window lights -- looks more inviting that way.

While the current exterior colors do not look bad, I do much prefer the trim (and gutter) also painted the lighter stucco color (suggested an hour ago by second pic of groveraxle -- he's got serious skills.).

The house is builder “I hope this is vaguely historical” special. It needs decluttering.

Yet again the prize goes to groveraxle. You nailed it. This pastiche of styles looks 100x better with the trim and wall color the same.

I prefer the timbering to be painted out. I might remove the pediment above the door.

Groveraxle nailed it. Reducing all the trim by keeping it all one color or very subtle is the way to go. Beth’s idea of softening the brick is also attractive. I also vote for one door with two sidelights. The door design should happen after the paint job. If you bought for the location, you did a good thing. Now you just have to change the aesthetics you don’t like.

I like the idea of all the trim painted as Grover has done IMO this is not a Tudor house only a mcmansion bad when it was built and not getting better. I also agree the front door needs to go with the hose and the arched one Beth posted is a good choice the doors Grover posted would amke this space feel like a prison IMO.

Love Grover’s paint scheme and an arched front door would be brilliant! You have your plan! Go make it happen!

Hi all. Better late than never, here is the current work in progress. We ended up removing some trim and painting it SW Alabaster. The door will be replaced, but temporarily painted SW Paverstone. We welcome any additional suggestions you guys may have...that don't break the bank:) Thanks again!

Looks like a different house! Now is a good time to look at new doors. I like a single door/two side lights and a deep wood (walnut?) could look amazing in the house now. Have you looked at anything you like for the front door? You did a great job. And I see you changed some landscaping too! Much better.

It does look different and better. It's definitely a product of it's time period.
