Did I ruin the brass fireplace?

We have a 2 sided brass fireplace that I have a love/hate relationship with. When I moved in to my fiance's house, I realized how tarnished it was (he is not a housekeeper!) and attempted to clean it. For whatever reason I blindly listened to him, and smeared ketchup all over it. ...I was pregnant at the time and fell asleep and forgot the ketchup was on it until the next day. It was a disgusting mess to try to clean up. I attempted Bar Keeper's Friend the second time, which was much easier and made a huge difference. I've attempted to use Brasso since then, but I just cannot figure out the secret, no matter how much I read about it or how many YouTube tutorials I watch. All of that to say... I am kind of convinced I ruined the brass. The area by the screws are now pink, which I know means I took too much zinc and left the copper... what else can I use besides Brasso to restore the color? Can I even restore it? Also, in a few areas are these... lines that I cannot get rid of. No amount of scrubbing, rubbing, polishing have made a dent in these lines. I am at a loss at what to do, besides replacing it or painting over it. Haaalp!
