Pull Projection advice? Help!

last modified: 6 years ago

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><md>The kitchen cabinet pulls that I’m in love with for our remodel have a projection of 2 1/8.
I have a sample and love the color and design!
They seem to stick out a lot farther than the other samples??? Am I missing something?? Are these okay to use? Or are they for a specific set of circumstances?? I have mostly all drawers and a few upper 36 inch cabinets. Was planning on using all pulls. Picture of the actual pull I love is attached, along with it compared to the other samples. Perimeter cabinets are an ivory color and island is black. Need advice

    well, if you have large men with large hands, those pulls are perfect for them!

    if you have a large, open kitchen, I don't think the projection will be that much of an issue. If not, and things are close together, could be a diff story. you know what I mean? They're big, heavy handles. a dainty kitchen wouldn't work w/those. it all depends on the overall style and size of cabinets.

    i do like them. and the one directly below them in the last pic.

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><md>It makes sense:)
    I jut can’t figure out if it’s going to be a weird thing??? I love them so much, it’s such a large projection. Also was planning on 2 pulls per drawer that are 27 inches or bigger... but the center to center of these is 6”. (6 and 3/4 total length)
    Is that too much pull per drawer??
    I’m a gaudy pull gal for sure

    do they come in a longer size? something that big I'd use one single one for the drawers (i have two on mine but they're only 6" long and half that projection). but, if you have 11ft ceilings, tall cabs, large heavy cabs, then they could handle it. again, just depends on the overall look

    Just make sure your cabinet doors have the clearance to open fully with these pulls without banging into any opposing doors/appliances. (Thinking of the corners in an L or U shaped kitchen.) If you think the extra depth of these pulls might cause collisions, you can add restrictors or change hinges to a smaller degree opening to compensate.

    Two plus inches is huge, and I’m a projection fanatic. Also, those look like a cleaning nightmare and may make standing in front of them at the counter difficult. Think those over very carefully.

    You might want to consider increasing your countertop overhang, if possible, to at least 2" to help accommodate these if you use them. I would agree with the previous posters that 2 1/8" inch projection is more than you would possibly need to protect your cabinetry finish, even for someone like my dad who has huge hands, and standing in front of them as @Anne Duke said may be uncomfortable unless your countertop overhang is very large, closer to 3". Countertop overhang is usually 1 1/2" to 1 3/4" and is calculated from the front of the cabinetry boxes, not the doors. It is intended to prevent water drips onto a door that is 3/4" to 1' thick, so there is 1/2" to 1" extra allowance to help with hardware projection. A 2" countertop overhang isn't uncommon, especially for an island, but larger than that begins to look deep and can cover your access to top drawer contents.

    The cleaning of those would finish me off. Too deep an overhang for cabinets starts to look odd. I also agree you do not want 2 of those on a wide drawer. IMO if the handle sticks out too far past the overhang you will hit it IMO.
