Just curious, why’d you buy the coffee table? As a place holder or part of a bigger plan? I don’t see the fireplace being white without opening a big can of worms

We’ve always had a table there and it needed to be replaced. It is the start of a remodel of the room but I don’t know where to go from here

Could you show pics of the rest of the room? Before doing just parts of the room be sure to get an idea of the overall plan. You will get some advice on what to do and can then work it in stages.

I like the oak tv corner cabinet and the mantel -- both of which are darker than the coffee table. Its lighter color draws attention to it. If YOU truly like the coffee table, for whatever reason, you might consider using it to display family photos or pictures you especially like beneath a glass you put atop it. Cut/tape poster board the size of the top of the coffee table and use the school stick glue to cover it with pictures and then put that beneath the glass. Be sure the glue is the kind that enables you to remove the pictures from the poster board without damaging the pictures should you choose to do so. That would cover the light top without damaging the table while keeping it useful as a table.

That picture shows pretty much the whole room. I bought the lighter table because I want to lighten up the room and refresh the brick on the fireplace and lighten up the mantle and corner cabinet. I just don’t know which direction to go

It's strange you purchased a plain table to kick off a room remodel. Not sure your ceiling height, but I'd mount the TV above the mantle and make the fireplace the star of the room. Right now everything is mismatched and the furniture scale potentially seems off.

I think the first thing you have to do is tell us what's staying and what is open to removing. Are the floor staying? Furniture? etc.
