It depends on the item you are making as to which yarn is best. I think the Red Heart is good for placemats and crafts but is too scratchy for garments. I primarily use sock weight or laceweight gauge yarns. I would donate it all and let the next knitter decide what they would like to do with it. I bet it will be put to use fast!

Red Heart and Caron are not value yarns.

Well, I’ve been doing some shopping research for value yarns. The yarns that come up in the Joann search box for “value yarn” is in fact Red Heart Super Saver, Caron One Pounder, and Big Twist Value.

I was defining "value yarns" as house brands, which I avoid.

Maybe I should have said economy yarn, the type one would not Norma want to make chemo hats and scarves or preemie hats with.
I prefer to gift people with soft and low to no pill apparel.
