Help with bonus room layout

We have a bonus room over our garage and want to start using it. It's quickly becoming a Storage unit.

We want this space to be multipurpose (media/game/guest room). A place for my older teens (19 and 16) to hang out in and a place for out of town guests to crash. It's a blank canvass. We have an idea of what we want to put in the room, just don't know how we should lay it all out.

We have a queen-sized bed but would prefer a murphy bed, A 50" tv already installed on a wall. I'm open to moving it, DH on the other hand probably isn't. We also have a large projection screen and projector. And a foosball table. We will want some type of couch and a small table with chairs for board games. One of the twin mattress I am going to turn into a rolling ottoman. It can be used for lounging, as a coffee table with trays or just a bed to crash on. Our room has 6 small windows and one larger window 3x6 for natural light.

I also need suggestions for paint color. I'm not sure if I want to keep it light and bright for our guests or go darker for a more media/game room effect.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I decided to put this room aside and concentrate on other parts of the house. I got super frustrated with it, LOL! This last week I went up there and decided to try again. First thing I did was commit to the project! I was going to pick a color and stick to it and not be afraid! I ended up looking online and found a room that was painted a beautiful navy blue and was accented with bright white. The room was gorgeous and didn’t look dark in the picture. I told myself that’s the color I want which is SW Naval 6244! I committed to it and there’s no going back. I spent all day yesterday painting. I love it! I just need to pick a white to go with it now.

I have a new question. How long should that curtain be for that horizontal window? Ceiling to floor or just fit it to the window? I’m also going to put white wood blinds. I found a cute pair of panels that are navy and white striped, would that be to much? Or should I just get basic white curtains or maybe a pop of color like red or gold?

Any advice y’all can offer would be much appreciated!

The room looks great in Navy - I like the idea of adding a pattern/vertical stripe with the curtains. Floor to ceiling curtains would be ideal to make the room feel taller, but I'm not sure how high you can go with the angle of your ceiling. Good luck!

Thank you! Hanging a curtain there is going to be tricky. I’m sure I’ll have to rig something up for the curtain rod. The navy striped curtains I found were horizontal but vertical stripes will definitely be better! The whites I’m going to pick from will be snowbound, pure white or extra white. I like the creamy ness of pure white but am not sure if it’s bright enough.

I have another update for my game/ guest room.the past two days my daughter and I made a shiplap divider wall. I put all of my Christmas buckets and some other things behind this wall. It turned out so cute! We also hung a pattern curtain to cover the closet area. That same curtain will go on the big window at the front of the room. I added a small entertainment console under the tv. I’m also going to purchase two small bookcases to put in front of the shiplap wall to store our board games.

Now I need to pick out a sectional sleeper couch. We wanted to build a hide a bed but I think it would be easier if we just purchase a sleeper. We do t have guest to often. If my room is navy and white what color should my couch be? I’m thing black, red or grey.

Thanks for look and if you got any ideas I’m open to hear them!
