Can you post a photo of the vanity?

This Is the white vanity and the other was what the powder room looked like before we gutted it.

Great vanity, but not what I'd consider MCM so glad you posted a photo. I can see a couple different options that would work great in there like a white hex tile or grey. What is the flooring outside the bathroom? I ask cause we recently bought a home and there was grey faux wood tile in the bathroom and the rest of the home has oak hardwoods with the orange-ish tint finish, so the bathroom tile clashes horribly with the rest of the home.

Currently the hallways and family room have cheap LVT that will be coming out. Kitchen has original oak hardwood with orange-ish tint.

Wondering about some kind of patterned tiled on floor and up vanity wall. Also replacing hardware on vanity with gold knobs, faucet and framed mirror.

Is the house really MCM style or just built in the 50/60's ?

Love the Ikea suggestion Patricia! That's more along the lines of MCM.

Unless you are just going vintage/retro/cottage. But your examples you saved for bathrooms do look more modern.

J Williams, thank you for all the pictures! Love them all in different ways! So hard to choose!

I'm kind of a weirdo, but I love when people mimic original finishes for MCM homes - like linoleum floors, formica counters, etc. when I update my bath, I'm looking into seamless marmoleum flooring. I like the idea of it feeling less cold and hard as tile. (I'm always dropping my tweezers and messing them up on my tile floor. I'm such a klutz.)

White Oak goes well in homes with a modern feel. So does Black Walnut.

When we re-did the bathroom in our house that's built in 1955 we did a mix of modern and throwback to the mid-century look since that's our favorite aesthetic. We used an IKEA base cabinet that we floated on the wall and I still love it. Also still love our tile choice for the floor, harkening back to the original pink floor tile that was sadly long-gone buried under ugly 90s tile on top that we had to rip all out, but did get to see it at least in bits while the floor was ripped up.

Don't mind our truly terrible decision to use white grout on the floor, lol. Or the cream bathmats, This photo was right after the renovation several years ago so hadn't replaced those yet (they're now light blue).

I love Nanke's last photo. I'd either do something like that or just go with a black slate tile.
