I prefer Option 2. The changes in direction on Option 1 are too much for me. I just wish there was a way to ease that color change in the bottom portion of Option 2 ... I don't love that. I don't know if the pieces in the middle of the slab on option 2 could be swapped (so the one with the backsplash pieces moves to the right and the one on the right moves to the middle. No idea if that would help get a better color match there.

Pam A, that's what bothers me about option 1. I want the veining or grain, or whatever it's called, to all go the same way.

Luckily for all involved, the fabricator had not started work when it was discovered that the measurements were incorrect.

The color change is not actually on the slab; I took the pictures of the new slab, partly in the shade with the slab at an angle (I didn't realize at the time that the designer and countertop company would be using my photos for this purpose). The other pictures that I took do not show a color change, other than from shadows (see the bottom photo).

Option 1 seem too choppy when looking at the photos. Does it look as choppy in person?

I'm having a problem with both.

In the 1st one the first section has a joint that does not match on the left and the veining goes in completely different directions.

In the 2nd the same issue but with the second piece. Also the colors are not the same. Might be shadows in the pics etc. Had a poster recently receive two colors of the same next to her farm sink and it was obvious.

Wondering if it's bc of the computer in terms of color, but the veining is off.

Might have to rethink the layout within the slab or upgrade to another slab. More money to match veining though.....

Thanks for the suggestions. The color differences were due to my very amateur photos. And it turns out that with the second slab, all of the pieces can be placed horizontally, so that both pieces of the waterfall part of the island much quite well. It's all good
