Would you do white or light grey grout with it? Ok to do light grey grout with it on the floor and white grout with it on the walls?

Too much going on. I agree that two many angles and directions aren't the best choice for a marble look tile. Marble itself is the statement, not the direction. 24 x 24 is a square which is IMO an older and more dated look. I'd go with the 12 x 24 and run it in a brick pattern. I'd do it on the shower walls and the floor. I think the basketweave shower floor will look lovely with the 12 x 24 as it will repeat the elongated shape of your larger tiles. I'd do white grout for all.

Good points, thanks. Yes I agree 24x24 is a more dated look but on the diagonal on the floor it seems to open up the space more. And 24x24 stacked on the walls is also dated but maybe less busy than 12x24. I am a bit worried this tile may be too busy with the veining so was trying to minimize it with larger tiles. Alternatively I could use a less busy porcelain marble look tile and use 12x24. Problem is I have had a hard time finding a white porcelain marble look tile with light grey veining and not too much of it (preferably made in Italy or Spain and not line veining like Dolomite).

background and light grey veining - and not too much veining. The one I saw seemed to have heavy, dark veining.

Actually looking at it again, the Vallelunga Statuario looks pretty and not too busy. I wonder how it compares to the one above from Arizona Tile/Ceramiche D’Agostino. Both are from Italy. Wonder which would look better.... Thank you!!

From far it looks like one slab, cut with brick cookie cutter...

Veins a bit zig zag, very similar like in the catalogue....

Me AGirl, nicely done on the layout! Most people don't even think about it and leave it to a tile installer, who usually doesn't think about it either.

Someone posted a bathroom recently, full of marble, that was a very busy, migraine inducing mess, with no thought to the colors/patterns of the tiles as they were installed.

It takes time to work through the layout and create a visually pleasing overall pattern.

You can certainly do a brick or stacked pattern in the shower and a larger format tile for the floor. This is not overthinking AT ALL. This is simple design 101, in fact, the same stone in different sizes and even shapes (like hex) is very inviting to the eye and it breaks up the monotony. Also, there is nothing wrong with different colors for grout on floor and walls. It sounds like a 12x24 might be a bit big for a herringbone pattern unless you have a LARGE floor to lay it out on. Even so, the diagonal look is very interesting in a 30cm tile for example. Your original idea sounds fine!!!
