Is this “too much tufting?”

Hey all! We recently moved into our new home and I’ve been conflicted with some furniture choices. I bought a blush pink accent chair on impulse while out shopping because it’s so rare (in my opinion) to find a blush pink chair with chrome/silver legs. Everything I’ve come across has gold accents which is pretty but not what I’m looking for. The sectional that I ordered has tufting all over whereas the accent chair only has it on the sides. This gives me *some* peace of mind but on the other hand, if I end up having to return and risk the 20% restocking fee, I’ll take it lol. I’ll attach some pictures for reference. What do you all think? Is this too much? Hoping someone could give me some much appreciated advice. Thanks!!

It really depends on your style, and what you want to see in your space. The question you are asking, in this particular case, is very taste specific. I would use a throw on the chair, anyway (most likely) to connect the two pieces. This reversible one has pink and grey.

Just one example - a ton of different options for throws for the chair and/or sofa.

The tufting on the outside of the chair looks rather bizarre to me. The purpose of tufting is (originally), to prevent the cushioning from clumping together easily... but the side of a sofa like this wouldn't have a big feather cushion, so it wouldn't be tufted. Of course today it's primarily just decorative, and decoration need not follow function... but I don't know. I would say it's too much tufting.

However, if the room it would be in is very minimalist, then perhaps you could get a postmodern vibe going on, and it wouldn't be overwhelming. Maybe pair with Frank Gehry's Easy Edges side chair? (I jest, I jest. Or do I?)

I do not think it is too much. I would not get any more tufting, though. It also depends on your style. Which below best represents your style?

Yes, it is far too much tufting. It looks quite wrong on the outside of the furniture. I am guessing you will tire of this look quickly. Dusting inside the tufts will not be any fun since they are not used, they will accumulate more dust.

Not a pro but I too think the tufting on the sides looks a bit odd. But tufting is a bit too fussy for me anyway.

I suggest that you keep the chair with the outer tufting. Select a sofa of similar outline with no tufting. The tufting is a small textural element. It should be used sparingly and not as a element that continues from piece to piece or room to room. I advise a little restraint. Pink and tufting is already a strong statement. Is the sofa available without any tufting?
