Dining Rug Sizing

Hi. I know there are a million websites that explain the recommended size of a dining room area rug. Most seem to say that you should allow for 2’ on each side of the table to allow for chair movement. The problem that I am running into is the fact that we have a relatively long and skinny dining room. I believe the room is 20’ X 10’.5”. Because of this, we ended buying a long and skinny dining room table- Pottery Barn Benchwright. The table dimensions are 120” X 42” approx. Going by the guides, I would need a rug that is approx. 7.5’ X 14’. That is certainly not a size that is readily available in most stores. A custom rug isn’t really in our budget right now. Not to mention, there are very limited options in carpets that are 15’ wide and buying a custom carpet out of a 12’ roll would create a tremendous amount of waste. We were thinking about buying a 10 X14 rug but fear that it would be too wide for the room (it would only leave a few inches on each side). We also thought about buying a 10 X 14 rug and cutting a couple of feet off the width and having it bound. Any suggestions for me?

Thanks!!
