Especially as new growth on many roses is RED!!!

So much red new growth here on Teas and Chinas!

An IMPORTANT Rosarian once told me, a woman called him in a panic, and said all her new growth was red -- and what should she do. He told her to cut it all off.

Then, he thought about it, and called her back, and the rose was one that normally had red new growth -- and she had dutifully cut it all off.

Jeri, i totally agree when i saw my new growth first time, i actually freak out . i have teas and chinas and you can imagine me looking at them suspiciously. Then i will be Googling . What i learn is no one has it in Florida then you know how minds jump...but i eyed my roses for days until it turn to normal color. Now, i am used to the colors.

That really bites about the poor woman cutting her roses. I hope it grew back and not thinking the worst giving a shovel.

New red growth used to be only a source of happiness for me, the promise of blooms to come. Now , even when I know it’s healthy, I’ll take a second, third, fourth look to make sure its not RRD. It’s always in the back of my mind.
