Color!! Color is missing in this otherwise lovely room.

Something with a pattern or print would be my choice such as finding a really beautiful fabric to cover a couple of the toss pillows or prettier shades for the windows.

Would you be willing to take down the wall moulding and repaint the walls one colour? A pale grey paint colour would look nice with your grey sofa and blue poufs. It would also be good to move your tv lower to relate to your entertainment unit below. I agree with the suggestion of needing some patterned toss cushions and replacing the blinds. The blinds are narrow and it should not be too expensive to change them out to white wood or woven wood ones that match your flooring colour.

tv seems to be a bit high. is it comfortable for you to sit on that sofa and watch tv.

Yes, those rental restrictions can be limiting.

Here are some cushion cover ideas. I would take away your white cushions, and you could still use the darker grey ones you own and add in something like these ones.
Two styles have pattern and texture and the other style is just a solid blue velvet to bring the blue of your poufs onto your sofa. If you do get a blue velvet...only get one, not two like you have with the poufs.

Everything is low except TV. Can you hang anything on walls? Can you get a taller plant? Having bench and two pouffs adds too many items to small room. Do you need that much seating?

The tv that high was a snafu thanks to my husband, when we moved he thought I wanted it on the wall and one day I came home and voila, it was there. We can’t hang it lower because of the wainscoting but I would have liked for it to be on the stand.

I will store the poufs in a corner and only use when we have people over, same with the bench.

Use the blue aa an accent color and have it in 3 spaces around the room. So you have the poufs (1); pillows or a throw on the sofa (2) and then a pot for the suggested plant or décor on the TV console (3). THat's 3 places around the room

IMO you need a lower cabinet to be able to hang the TV at proper viewing height a rug with more color no to the extra pouf the room is small don’t over crowd it with little things and I would do a throw over the arm of the sofa in a color from the new rug unless you have good light for a plant forget it I would do drapes on those windows and not blinds at all.

You are missing color! Try some colorful throws, and some bigger plants!

A white throw, some blue/light blue cushions, some simple geometric patterns on the cushion maybe and definitely a taller plant. The are in front of the windows seem dull, so you need to create some interest there.

The brown/neutral color scheme is fine, but you need some color touches here and there.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! I ordered new drapes today, bought a tall plant and a white throw. The tv will have to unfortunately stay where it is. However, any thoughts on what we should add to this tv stand? (i am looking for something tall to add here as well) and artwork wise for the walls? Please ignore the mess in the pic :)

Plant is great. The two small gold pots do nothing for your decor. All the items need to be larger. On the media shelf a couple trays might be nice. Then large vase in black or metallics would help bridge the gap between TV and console. A larger more distinctive lamp would help distract from gap too. Or some tall candlesticks. The lamp is cool and price is bargain.

Also, on the media shelf, any specific kind of trays? I am clueless in this house, I think the wainscoting is throwing me off lololol

I would try 3 candlesticks on right side of TV. Close but not overlapping TV. Then the lamp on other side. If you could remove decor items you have and take a photo from standing as far back as you can but straight onto TV, i can do some mock ups of options to help you visualize things better.

I am completely lost myself here but i will definitely use tall plants and colors on pillows and throws too.

I use pinterest also to give me some inspiration about color accord with seasons.

about the furniture under the tv, would be an option to have a lower one (or a floating shelf, mounted on the wall!!) where you could have some tall flower vases, art, something you like , maybe?

i add some pins i looked up now, even though i know it's maybe not the right style or proportions. But just to show what i mean.

Ok that helps. You don’t have as much room on sides of TV as previous shots showed. Let me try a few things. Do you have any books with interesting jackets. You could place a couple stacks of books on that shelf with interesting words on spines of books. Bbl

Here is a concept. Lamp on left (narrow and tall enough to bridge gap). Balance other side with tall thin objects. Could be skinny candlesticks or tall thin metal sculpture of some kind. The stack of books gives you idea of unique book spines. Two stacks of two books on that shelf preferably with black and white spines, would decorate without a bunch of small items. A long thin bowl could work too.

I finally found size of art. 30” high x 24” wide. Might be too big for the space. Cut out brown paper templates that size or put painters tape on wall that size and let’s see if that is good size. I like the concept though.

I would put my money on the finishing touches. Window treatments are expensive and those windows are not standard sizes and you are renting. If you think you will be there 5 years then might be a good idea. If not, I wouldn’t.

Hi everyone! Life has gotten complicated, but haven’t forgotten to show you the update/progress. We ended up buying drapes for the windows and it looks 100x nicer. I’ll try and take a picture tomorrow so you can see how much your advice helped :)

Your space is, mostly, comfortable looking. My personal preference would be a lower tv but YOUR preference matters.

"HOME" as one line, yes, but on two lines, your pillow says "HO" "ME". Not a fan of that cushion.

Your plant left of the tv gets no light and, if real, will likely soon die. Cannot see the base of your lamp (?floor lamp?) on the left but if there is a table there or if you can find a narrow table or lamp table combo on which to set your plant by the window, then do. Then if you replace it with another item for that "naked' corner, make it a thin/narrow and taller item.

The wires show between your tv and console. IF YOU want your tv that high, keep it there but add a box shelf, painted the same color as your console, TO SET ATOP your console that is the same height as the space between your console and the same width as your console tv to hide the wires.
