What series Andersen (some good, some meh)? Any of the Marvin's are a good choice in my opinion. I would not use Semco or Weathershield, every. What style windows are you planning (ie: dbl hung, casement, etc)? Wood or Wood Clad? Patio Doors?

We were looking at Weathershield too -- can you elaborate on why you wouldn't use them ever?

Poor quality in regards fit and finish, customer service is mediocre at best, average at best performance numbers.

It is recommended to use Aluminum windows with wood interiors in our climate. We are considering the Weather Shield Contemporary series or the Anderson 100's. What Marvin series do you recommend for cold weather climates.

@Stevekris Warner We are in upstate NY and have similar temperature fluctuations. We are using the Marvin Integrity on our new build. They are wood interior and Ultrex (fiberglass) exterior.

Whatever brand you go with, make sure the performance levels are up to par. I would suggest looking into thermally-broken aluminum or wood-aluminum windows for your climate. Something with a u-value of u-0.28 or lower will keep interior temperatures comfortable year round.

Some would say better. In a quality brand of course.

And Andersen 100's are neither Fiberglass or Aluminum. They are Fibrex, which is a composite material. In a wood clad aluminum window I would stick with Marvin Ultimate, or Kolbe. and would steer away from all Aluminum, even thermally broken aluminum.

I would do fiberglass before aluminum I live in an area in BC where our temps are bit more extreme in the summer but the same in the winter and have found ours have held up well they were in before we bought so have no idea what company.
