Candice, Evelyn, and Munstead Wood

Candice rose (Delcand/Delludice), bred by Delbard in France before 2008 and introduced in South Africa in 2008. Excellent garden rose, very healthy, beautiful striped blooms, moderate fragrance. This rose blooms all the time in my garden and is one of my perfect roses. Helen

Evelyn (AUSsaucer/Apricot Parfait), a David Austin climbing rose, bred by David Austin before 1991 and released in 1991 (UK). 3-4" apricot blend blooms with strong fragrance. The blooms last long on the bush and in a vase. I like everything about this rose.

Munstead Wood (AUSbernard), a David Austin rose, bred in the UK (2007) and released in the US in 2010. This is an excellent rose in my garden. It’s very healthy and repeats all the time. The 3.75-inch blooms have up to 75 petals with strong old rose fragrance. Watch out for the thorns of this rose. Helen

Vaporvac, lol, I grow Munstead Wood in a pot because I have no room left in the ground.

Yesterday I pointed at Mr Lincoln tree rose (imaging a tall hybrid tea Lincoln on top of a 36" tree rose; it creates a funny tall rose. One of my follies when I started growing roses and was fascinated by tree roses so I bought it without knowing I stacked a tall rose on top of a tall stick.) and told my husband thanks to him that rose is still in that spot instead of being removed. He likes that rose. He told me I have him to thank for not only for that rose but also for all the roses that he let me grow in our garden, and I agreed with him, lol. He removed the lawn in the backyard so I could plant more roses. When I ran out of rooms, I planted them in pots. We're so lucky to have understanding spouses/partners who just smile at our hobbies and let us do whatever we want. Helen

Beautiful photos, your Munstead Wood is gorgeous. Evelyn is one of my favorite Austins, a superb rose.

These are BEAUTIFUL roses Helen! Are these current pictures? Gosh - I only have frozen leaves and buds in my garden now after several days of hard freezes. So thanks so much for posting these eye-candies - they really cheer me up!

Those are all so beautiful and luscious, Helen. I’m beginning to like stripes more and more, you sure have some lovely ones. Evelyn and Munstead Wood are both gorgeous! The blooms are so full and petal packed!

Thanks everyone. Evelyn and Munstead Wood are some of David Austin best roses.

linc, we have mild weather in the Bay Area so we have roses through out the year. When the weather is cold, some of the roses slow down a bit.

SaraAnn, warning, once you start liking striped roses, you won't stop at just one. Dave Bang recently joined Instagram, and he just shared some of his beautiful striped roses https://www.instagram.com/dave_bang_roses/ . You should check out his thornless hybrid miniature rose called “Powder Keg”. It's breathtaking. Helen

OMG Helen — I just looked at the Dave Bang page. Which one is Powder Keg?

That purple-on-violet at the end of line 2 ... gotta have it!

I love all stripes, was sorry this year when Candice sold out quickly. Yours are to die for.

However, saying ”Watch out” for Munstead Wood’s thorns is a massive understatement. So beautiful, and so dangerous.

    Thanks for posting.

Ok, enablers ... I just went to For Love of Roses and ordered 3 Dave Bang minis: Swizzle, Magical Moment (the purple one), and Love and Passon , which looks an awful lot like Red Intuition,

All backordered, but that’s ok. I wouldn’t want them earlier than February anyway.

    Broke but happy!

I'm glad Dave decided to join Instagram and shared some of his beauties, and there will be more...

Sylvia Wendel, if you count from the bottom (from the oldest pic), it's on the 3rd row on the right. Powder Keg is the purple striped. If you click on each image, he wrote some comments and include the rose name if there's one. Helen

I have not, but others have posted pics and they looked nice. They also seem a bit better priced compared to some nowadays. I think she gets good reviews. I was just surprised to see a rose everyone wants, but can't seem to find right there on her website. : ))

Last Spring I received three healthy little bands that grew like mad. I want to order from her again before all my rose money is spent, but I haven't seen any news for a few months what she will actually have in stock for next year.
