kitchen painted

16-year-old custom stained cabinets had faded. Painted professionally to Dover white. Changed countertops and backsplash to quartzite, replaced cabinet hardware. Moved microwave over cooktop to microwave drawer. What do you think?

Oh Stacy, beautiful! I remember your original post. This is so wonderful, happy Thanksgiving cooking in your "new" kitchen! Did you repaint your ceiling as well, or is it just the difference in the cabinets that makes it look like it?

It might just be the screen, but I don’t think the backsplash goes with the floor and I would have seen about removing the display area/corbels above the stove before painting. That said, you like it and that’s what matters, so I’m unsure why asking for opinions on an already finished product? People congratulating does feel good, but any nitpicking will feel mean spirited as it’s already done. With what you have, I’d switch the light fixture and blinds and call it a day. They seem too heavy for the brighter space.

Here is my family room - most of my house is ivory and black and gold. That’s the reasoning behind keeping the lighting and cornice.

Love the counter and backsplash. A bit different than the usual you would see in a traditional kitchen but it's a nudge , visually in a good way I think. My approach would have been something w the original finish on cabs left intact but the wear and tear and general condition isn't known from a screen so you cleaned them up and hired a pro and it's all fresh again. enjoy! !

@ M Miller. I get what you're saying, but I think you missed the point of my post and instead proved it. Tons of people do before and afters, and Houzz as a whole is a wonderfully supportive community. That said, there are also people who can't handle criticism after sharing something so personal. I supported her vision in that I'm happy she got what she wanted and stated what I thought would bring it home. I also gave an honest critique with qualifiers for taste and color trueness because the question was "What do YOU think?" and no one seemed to be looking at the stuff that gets ripped apart in other threads (counter complimenting floors for example). My lament was that when people post their personal projects it feels like the options are clap, shut it, or disagreeing is automatically adversarial. That isn't a platform for getting honest feedback which nitpicking, critiques, etc are. It also sets someone up for regret if they do say "OH MY GOSH WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT!!!" You said the point was to get feedback and opinions. The question was posed to get feedback and opinions. I did that. It just didn't 100% agree with the OP or you and that's okay.

Thank you to everyone for contributing! I appreciate all the comments, whether you liked the change or not. We plan on moving in the next 2-3 years, so this was a quick fix to bring the kitchen to more of a resale status. I truly want to thank you for taking the time to look.

I love all the little details- the hardware color, the bar stools, the mesh cabinet door, the corbels..etc. It's beautiful and looks like a million-dollar kitchen.

I so appreciate when people post before and after pics, I'm always interested in how folks paint their cabinets for a refresh and it really looks like you've had them done right from the pics! Professionally sprayed? Did you have brushed finish added, was is it special paint designed for cabinetry..I've heard there are new lines out just for that? We are looking at buying a second home in the desert and with this market, we're seeing a lot of high end/desireable location homes with outdated cabinetry, good quality and still in great shape. usually with a nice open layout, so no need for a full remodel just an update. Always looking for ideas of cabinet refresh rather than full demo, thank you for sharing!
