Anybody out there doing stained glass overlay? Basically, it's a process of making faux-stained glass by cutting out bits of colored film and sticking them onto a glass or plexiglass background and then filling in the spaces between with self-adhesive lead. Its very much like making a mosaic. If done carefully, the completed project looks amazingly like real stained glass. Much better than anything done with glass paints. Some of the colored film is actually textured so that it even feels like stained glass. And, one can even incorporate thin glass bevels to really make the creations "pop."

I have an acquaintance who does real stained glass work, and when she was at my home recently, she studied my one completed project (mounted in a transom) very very carefully then climbed up on a kitchen chair to feel of it before asking it was "real" or not!

I recently got hooked after seeing a YouTube video and then buying a kit from someone off of Ebay who'd had it for years and never worked it up. (The kit allowed one to either follow one of two included patterns or be creative and make one's own pattern. I decided to do my own design!)

Now I'm finding it hard to locate more of the colored films and self-adhesive lead. Seems that there used to be a couple of companies in the UK who made and sold the supplies. (RegaLead and DecraLead) Unfortunately, they don't seem to be distributing in the U.S. anymore or, if they are, I can't find them.

Hoping someone out there also does this art-form and can help me find more supplies.
