I got mine this summer as a band from Fresh Garden Living, an etsy vendor. She sends nice roses for around $19.99 and free ship. Its out of stock right now but could you email her to see if you can get it for spring delivery.

It is healthy (no black spot) and precocious and has flowered a lot, even when I first got it as a band, having 5 blooms on it when it arrived and I had to remove some because I wanted it to grow instead of flower. It does grow quickly and I need to get it potted up. Its in a one gallon right now but has long roots way into the ground so it could eaily go in a 5 gallon.

I can tell it will be a monster in a warm zone like yours, as our zones are very similar. I would get as large of an arbor, trellis, gazebo or whatever, as you can lol.

I have a lot of climbers so I am always running out of trellis space. Not sure where I will put my Colette right now, so she is sitting next to 4th of July and Florence Bower's Pink Tea, in a tangle, awaiting her trellis lol.

I might just go to Tactor Supply this spring and get some large cattle panels to do big hoop trellises out of and save money and time lol.

My garden is going to be totally different from yours but the heat and humidity in the summer might be similar. Even tho my Colette was marked 'Climbing' it never has. It is stingy on canes, foliage and flowers. It is only supposed to be truly hardy to zone 7 but it has survived some of the worst winters here and comes back. It believe it is grafted on Huey. When you get flowers it is gorgeous, and it may have fragrance but I can barely smell anything anymore so I am not much help there. It does get some BS and the JBs love it. I keep saying I am going to take it out but by the time I get around to it in the spring it has started blooming and I leave it go. But it is taking up trellis space that another could use.

Mine was a baby last year and didn’t put on a time of growth-I’m hoping stuff was happening under ground:)

She was clean and fragrant, though

I am getting mine in first shipment in Feb 2020 from Witherspoon . Super excited but very nervous since it is a climber and i have little experience. I guess, I learn as I go....:):)

It is still available there but hopefully there will be another sale around Christmas.

I'm getting one from Northland Rosarium, own root, this Spring after being inspired by Diane.

I've always admired this rose and hope to grow it at some point. Actually, I may prefer to grow its pale yellow sport Lunar Mist. We have a Colette growing in the nearby town garden which has sported some Lunar Mist branches and it's quite beautiful. Angel Gardens grows this rose but has none in stock at the moment. Maybe if enough of us inquire she'll root some for us :)

Wow, Lilyfinch, your Colette looked incredible! I think Diane‘s Colette has inspired all off us. I’m growing mine as a large shrub and it is working so far. I’ve been impressed with how hardy this rose is. I purchased Lunar Mist from Northland Rosarium this year and the blooms are so pretty - I love the soft yellow.

Oh Dave mine wasn’t that pic ! This was at Bob martins garden in California. He’s the president of the rose society here in San Diego . His garden was as neat as a pin . Spectacular! Mine was just getting over the arbor when I moved :)

Oh, I misunderstood - sorry. When Bob Martin‘s garden has been featured in American Rose, it looks spectacular. I’d love to be able to see it in person.

Suebelle, it’s wonderful to see Colette more available now and as a larger bareroot that can be ordered from Regans.

Colette is amazing! Does she just naturally flower from top to bottom like that or does one have to do some creative tying and pruning? I hope mine looks like that in a yr or so.

Dave, I love the buttery color on Lunar Mist! Does it seem just as vigorous as Colette? I have visions of that one climbing up around some tall structure with a blue or periwinkle birdhouse! Another one for the *Wish List* lol

Dave, that is a gorgeous bloom of Lunar Mist. What a lovely color and so lush. Are you growing it as a shrub, too? My Colette has been vigorous from the get go. She was purchased a number of years ago at my favorite local nursery/greenhouse. She is grafted on Dr Huey, and was a five gallon plant when I got her. I've never done much tying, shaping or precision pruning on her, and the last couple of years, I've refused to get up on a step ladder. Anyway, I had to do a lot of hacking last summer, and more will have to take place this spring because she was getting out of control. But she blooms from top to bottom no matter if she gets any care or not. She will be smaller this spring when I get through with her. Diane

I have question about Lunar Mist, also. I'm helping a friend with his garden and he wanted Graham Thomas. I know nothing about that rose and thought Lunar Mist might be better. However, he's prefer fragrance. Colette is known to be highly fragrant, but HMF says ' None to mild, pepper, spice fragrance'. A commenter said 'sweet, mild'. Does it differ so markedly? Maybe the solution is to grow them both! )) Does anyone sell them both?

Vaporvac - Angel Gardens lists both Graham Thomas and Lunar Mist. I’d email Pam and see if she’ll have both available next year. That’s strange that HMF says none to mild fragrance. To me, it smelled pretty much identical to Colette.

Diane - It has shown good vigor so far but has not been as exuberantly vigorous as some other climbers. I ordered Kordes Moonlight at the same time and it is at least twice as large as Lunar Mist now. Colette has acted about the same for me. I ordered my first Colette from RU and the second one I purchased as a 3 gallon plant from my local nursery 1 year later because I was impatient waiting for that 1 gallon Colette to put on enough size to plant in her permanent home. Of course, within a few months they were the same size and I ended up gifting one Colette to a friend. Because she has grown at a good, modest rate and hasn’t been too aggressive, I think I’ll be able to and hope to grow both Colette and Lunar Mist as large shrubs. That’s great you were able to purchase yours as a 5 gallon plant. Please post pics of yours this spring - even if it may be a bit smaller/tidier :)

I e-mailed Pam at Angel Gardens and she said she's had trouble rooting Lunar Mist but is working on it. I also spoke with an Andrew at Northland Rosarium (what a nice guy) and he said he is also working on rooting Lunar Mist cuttings taken from a 25' tall mother plant which he described as the most beautiful rose he has ever seen. I hope they are successful and will let you guys know if I hear plants are available anywhere.

Dave are you trying to achieve this since it is a climber ? I love the idea and I am already liking LM. I keep going to Paul Zimmerman 'video on how to but i also remember Kim's story about his friend growing a huge monster without a support of somesort.

I assume it would be quite vigorous in your climate, Plumaria Girl. I wonder if Hoovb still grows LM? Hopefully Northland or Pam will have something available next year. I‘ve seen it available a couple of times in the past on Ebay but just didn’t trust purchasing it there and so I waited a couple of years later when Northland had it in stock and I had a place for it.
