porcelain slabs

Has anyone used or looked into using porcelain slabs as walls for the shower instead of tiles? Do they come in large sizes (4 x 8 or larger)? Is it expensive. Who installs them? Where might one find them?

It’s just as expensive as slab stone and requires higher skilled trades than slab stoners.

Agree.

They are pricey. They can be tough to install. Weight to maneuver and install, etc. Some manufacturers only release certain product to factory trained installers. You can sometimes go through the manufacturers website to find a contact who can help you work down the distributor/seller/installer chain.

You can also try John Bridge Forum. See if there is a qualified/capable installer in your area there through their "find a guy" feature.

Yes, they do. They are commonly called gauged thin porcelain panels. Neolith and Laminam are common examples. You MUST get a factory trained installer.
