help with pantry doors

So new addition has a 6 foot wide pantry.. hubby not done with the shelves yet... the doorway is 5 feet wide.. i have creamy white doors now, hate the way they open into the room... i was thinking bypass barn doors since not much wall space at all on either side... i was thinking wood , a bar will be on the wall past the pantry, should the wood match future cabinets or should it match the cabinets in the island and rest of the kitchen across from it? The house is sort of craftsman , fieldstone fireplace in the next room, simple, dentil moulding on my kitchen cabinet trim with shaker style doors...HELP... Hubby doesn’t want to add wall on one side, would make the doorway smaller, he wants full access...any and all help will be great
Also i am planning on a. Moving the fridge over two feet adding wall on the side and back of it, boxing it in, or getting a hutch cabinet for the side to hide it... still figuring that out, you can let me know what you think of that too...thanks

I'd kill for that pantry no matter what the door style is. My first comment would be to get a new counter depth fridge before you do anything to that area. You'll need a cabinet above and a panel on the side. In order to comment on the pantry doors you need to post more pictures of what is on either side of them, so we can see the whole layout.

Ok. It is a counter depth fridge In the pic above look past the blue table. That is the future bar. It’s my second home I can’t get a pic of the other side now. Will have to wait till the weekend. Thanks. I’ll get back to yu though

I had a pantry like that and had storage on each interior door, loved it and then chalk painted the insets on exterior for grocery list, menu, to do list etc. really miss my pantry doors.

Barn doors have to go somewhere when opened. You need twice the opening, free of any obstacles. Which you don’t have. Standard bifold doors are a much better choice than barn doors.

@live wire oak I was thinking of bypass barn doors. They go over each other wouldn’t Need room on either side of the opening I think

Then you only have half the contents visible at once. It’s always the wrong half too. Lots of PIA moving the door back and forth just to gather everything you need. I had a closet like that once. You couldn’t pull out pants and a sweater at the same time. You had to move the door first.

Since you are creating a step in, and not a walk in, the double swing door or the folding door are the best options.

How about retracting doors that disappear? Is it too late to do those?
